This auction lot arises from the genuine wish to help those people whose smiles help you to forget the misery of the world.

The car was used by Pope Karol Wojtila-Papa Giovanni Paolo II when he went on an official visit in Guinea Bissau on the 27 and 28 January, 1990.

Is an old Toyota pick-up , issued on 01/05/1990.

As you can see from the photo, the vehicle is not in excellent condition.

It has been used on the roads of Guinea Bissau for 17 years.

We do not have either the protective glass cover, which you can see in the picture, and it is lacking the rear access stairs, although we may be able to find these.

A booklet in Portuguese, printed in Lisbon, will be delivered to the buyer which records the Pope's speeches during those two days and a declaration of authenticity by the current Bishop of Guinea Bissau.

Any result would help to further some diocese projects.

In 2002, I went for the first time, for two months, as a volunteer to Guinea Bissau.

In 2004 I went back, for almost 5 months, and have the big wish to make my little contribution to improving the conditions of those people who live in absolute poverty.

Some months ago, I talked to Sister Rosa, an exceptional person who has dedicated her life to helping those who have been less lucky. During this conversation we came up with the idea of selling this car.

This is charity work, no one will gain from this transaction. All the profits will be employed in the diocese, which will use the money firstly to replace this car which, after years of use on "ruined roads" is now unreliable.

Any remainder will be invested in the building of a school. Everything will be documented. Whoever wants to give a little
